Ukraine's healthcare transformation progress in the context of European integration On June 26, 2018, the EU-Ukraine Sub-Committee on Economic and Other Sector Cooperation cluster meeting participants, including representatives of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, discussed the major accomplishments and future prospects for bringing the Ukrainian healthcare in line with the European standards in the context of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement implementation.

Preparing for and responding to future pandemics: Ukraine strengthens global cooperation with international partners Strengthening the capacity of healthcare systems, including training and education of healthcare professionals, strengthening the systems of diagnosis and prevention of infectious diseases among the population. The innovative potential of the pharmaceutical business in the development and manufacture of vaccines and diagnostic products at the country level will strengthen the world’s resilience to the challenges of future pandemics. This is the conclusion reached by the participants of the second Global Bio Summit 2023, which is held annually in Seoul, South Korea. This year, about two hundred representatives of governments, international organizations and the scientific community presented strategies and policies of their countries and provided proposals for the development of a global strategy to strengthen pandemic response capacity.

Chernihiv Medical Center for Modern Oncology rebuilt with funds raised through UNITED24 During the occupation of the Chernihiv oblast, when fighting was taking place on the outskirts of the city, the Chernihiv Medical Center for Modern Oncology was damaged by blast waves and mine fragments, in particular, its central six-story surgical building: windows were smashed, the roof and walls were partially damaged, and diagnostic equipment was damaged. Two staff members sustained shrapnel wounds and another suffered a concussion.

Draft Law on Medical Devices is Another Step Toward Bringing Ukrainian Legislation in Line with EU Law The Ministry of Health, together with the Parliamentary Committee on Public Health, Medical Assistance and Health Insurance, has brought the draft law No. 7585 “On Medical Devices and In Vitro Medical Devices” into compliance. It is about harmonizing the draft law with Regulations 2017/745 on medical devices and 2017/746 on medical devices for in vitro diagnostics of the European Parliament and of the Council.

Project to strengthen psychological services of hospitals and resilience of healthcare workers implemented in three oblasts The war has affected everyone in our country. Studies show that more than 70% of Ukrainians experience one or another symptom that indicates a deterioration in mental health. Although only a small percentage of our citizens are now ready to seek help from specialists, the number of visits to medical professionals due to deterioration of their psycho-emotional state has increased significantly. Doctors themselves often need support as well: in addition to the impact of the war and increased workload, they also face the problem of professional burnout. In addition, military realities have created a need for specialized knowledge in mental health issues.
