Today, on 5 February, at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, the German NGO CADUS handed over a mobile medical office to the BASE UA partner organization in Kyiv in the presence of German ambassador Anka Feldgusen and Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko. The Minister of health of Ukraine and the ambassador also discussed further German-Ukrainian cooperation.

After russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the German organization CADUS is constantly working in Ukraine. In collaboration with partners from BASE UA and Leave No One Behind Ukraine Info Hub, it helps with patient transportation, conducts medical and safety trainings for local volunteers, and works to expand the concept of trainings for various target groups in Ukraine.

With the financial support of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, CADUS has already handed over 22 ambulances to Ukrainian organizations and hospitals, and converted the bus into a mobile intensive care unit (M.I.C.U.), and also supports partners with medical equipment and medical materials.

“We want to support Ukrainians in their efforts to develop their own healthcare system. Because of the russian attack on Ukraine, even more medical care is needed than would normally be required in winter. With the mobile medical office, we are once again strengthening our support for Ukraine,” explains Sebastian Junemann, executive director of CADUS.

“Due to the transfer of such mobile offices to the Ukrainian healthcare system, primary medical care becomes available to Ukrainians who find themselves near the war zone. The destruction of medical infrastructure has become another challenge to a full-scale war, which Ukraine is being helped to overcome by international partners. I am sincerely grateful to both the German government and non-governmental public organizations that are making efforts to ensure the provision of medical care in a difficult period for our country,” said Health Minister Viktor Liashko.

German ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldgusen noted that “the joint work of German non-governmental organizations Cadus and Leave No One Behind and their German volunteers with Ukrainian non-governmental organizations, hospitals and volunteers in strengthening the healthcare system in Ukraine is one of the indications of how important interpersonal ties between Germany and Ukraine are. The Germans are sincerely making efforts to help Ukraine and believe in its victory.”

For reference: CADUS is a non-profit and independent humanitarian organization headquartered in Berlin. CADUS has been operating in Ukraine since the beginning of March 2022, evacuating the wounded, providing necessary assistance, conducting trainings, supporting the delivery of humanitarian aid, and the recovery of Ukraine.
