Show your love, vaccinate: MOH and UNICEF encourage parents and caregivers to protect their children with vaccinations Kyiv, 25 April 2024 – To mark World Immunization Week, which runs from 24 to 30 April, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, together with UNICEF and partners, is reminding people about the importance of vaccination and working to make immunization services more accessible. Mobile vaccination teams of healthcare workers are operating in all regions, both at 'Spilno' spots run by UNICEF in Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipro and Lviv, and in train stations, squares and parks, administering vaccinations according to the national vaccination schedule. Re-vaccination is also being conducted by mobile medical teams in Health villages.

Patient-centeredness is both a priority and a foundation for high quality, accessible and free healthcare. This was stated by the Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Liashko during the presentation of the pilot project “Patient Representative”.

International medical partnership: in February, more than 130 Ukrainian doctors were trained abroad In February 2024, 132 healthcare workers, including 54 doctors from 26 medical institutions from different regions of Ukraine, took part in scientific events (conferences, congresses, forums), educational events (internships, training, workshops, seminars), and experience exchange.

Government approves the Strategy for the Development of Voluntary Free Donation of Blood and Blood Components The strategy’s implementation areas are in line with Ukraine’s European integration commitments under the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, which, in particular, sets out a course to intensify cooperation with the EU in the field of blood services. The strategy was approved for the period until 2028. A corresponding action plan for its implementation in 2024-2026 was also approved.

Reaching patients with severe mental health disorders: WHO hands over 12 vehicles for community health providers WHO has donated 12 cars to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine to ensure the provision of care by community mental health teams (CMHTs) working across multiple oblasts of Ukraine. These vehicles are essential for CMHTs to be operational and allowing to reach their patients in remote communities. Earlier, WHO had already donated 7 cars to the CMHTs in Ukraine.

Leading French specialists in prosthetics and rehabilitation conduct training for Ukrainian colleagues 25 doctors of physical and rehabilitation medicine from different regions of Ukraine are undergoing training with the participation of leading French specialists in prosthetics and rehabilitation from the UGECAM Nord-Est Medical Association. The training takes place in the format of a professional school, during which participants will listen to theoretical lectures focused on the rehabilitation of people with amputations. Each lecture day is followed by a case study and practical exercises.

Over 4,400 war-affected Ukrainians evacuated for treatment abroad For two years of full-scale war, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, together with the European Commission, WHO, and other partners, has been organizing evacuation flights for injured Ukrainians to be treated abroad.In total, 4,417 people have been evacuated, including patients with mine injuries, those in need of prosthetics, and cancer patients. In addition, more
than 600 children with injuries and cancer are among the evacuees.

Backup power during power outages: healthcare facilities in 20 regions of Ukraine received 300 Battery Systems Thanks to the cooperation of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine with donors, healthcare facilities in 20 regions of Ukraine and Kyiv received 300 battery systems. The devices will provide hospitals with backup power, so doctors will be able to continue saving lives even during power outages or power cuts.

In 2023, 19,851 people fell ill with tuberculosis in Ukraine Despite the full-scale war, the Ukrainian healthcare system continues to provide patients with access to free diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis. According to the Center for Public Health, in 2023, 19,851 cases of active tuberculosis were registered in our country, of which 639 were among children under 14 and 196 among adolescents aged 15-17.
