In Makariv, in Kyiv oblast, an outpatient clinic which was destroyed by the invaders was rebuilt. In March last year, during the occupation of the region, the Makariv outpatient clinic burned to the ground from a direct hit by a russian shell.

The medical institution was rebuilt by the joint efforts of the Ministry of Health, the charitable foundation of the Kyiv School of Economics "The KSE Foundation", the Kyiv Regional Military Administration and numerous both Ukrainian and international benefactors.

The new modern outpatient clinic is built according to the best international standards. In the near future, the medical facility will be fully equipped and open its doors to patients.

“The full-scale war has been going on for more than a year. Our infrastructure is constantly being destroyed. An outpatient clinic in Makariv was destroyed at the end of March last year as a result of a direct hit by an enemy shell. Within a few months, we started working on its restoration in order to restore local residents' access to primary health care. Before the war, about 16 thousand people applied here. The restored outpatient clinic is a kind of symbol of our invincibility, that no matter how the enemy strikes, the victory is ours. We will build even better on the site of the destroyed one. I thank all the partners who joined the restoration project and supported it with funds and expertise. Our strength is in unity. We were once again convinced of this during the implementation of this project,” said Viktor Liashko, Minister of Health.

The newly built outpatient clinic of a general practice of family medicine will provide unhindered access to primary health care for patients from Makariv and surrounding settlements.

“Today, the question often sounds, is it necessary to rebuild Ukraine now, while the war is going on? But the point is to show that people have the right to high-quality medicine and can get it during the war. No need to wait. The better we work together right now, the sooner the war will end. And this outpatient clinic is an example of how we win together. This restoration was made possible due to all of you,” said Tymofiy Mylovanov, president of the Kyiv School of Economics.

The construction of the outpatient clinic was completed in less than a year. The newly built medical facility will serve more than 16,000 patients.

“This year, through joint efforts of the government and business, we have shown an example of how the principles of “Build Back Better” are implemented in practice. On the site of destroyed outpatient clinics, we are rebuilding medical institutions according to the best international standards. After all, Ukrainians should already be provided with high-quality services in modern medical institutions,” said Vitaliy Vlasiuk, deputy chairman of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.

It should be recalled that since the full-scale invasion, russia has already damaged 1,236 medical facilities and destroyed another 176 to the ground.
