Since the beginning of the war, russia has never provided Ukraine with the opportunity to provide the temporarily occupied territory with medicines through humanitarian corridors. This was announced by First Deputy Minister of Health Oleksandr Komarida.

“russia does not allow providing medicines to the temporarily occupied Kherson region. At the same time, there are such cynical cases when the occupation forces take cargo from volunteers and pass it off as provision from russia. The Ministry of Health appealed to international partners – the Red Cross, the World Health Organization, the organization “Doctors Without Borders”, but did not receive any security guarantees and confirmations of the organization of humanitarian corridors,” explains Oleksandr Komarida.

At the same time, the Affordable Medicines Program and delivery points for medicines received as humanitarian aid are working to provide the frontline regions with medicines.

Under the Affordable Medicines Program, patients can still receive medicines free of charge or with a small surcharge. The program includes medicines for cardiovascular diseases, type I (insulin-dependent) and type II diabetes, bronchial asthma, mental and behavioral disorders, epilepsy, diabetes insipidus, as well as drugs for the prevention of heart attacks and strokes.

To receive medicines for outpatient treatment, which are received as humanitarian aid, the patient can contact the family doctor or hospital for an appointment for the drug, and then receive it absolutely free of charge. Medicines as humanitarian aid are delivered to almost all primary care institutions.
